SAFEGUARDING POLICY.

This policy applies to all safeguarding matters arising from work delivered by me, Emma Osborne Gannon, through my company Tardis UK Ltd

1. Safeguarding Statement

I am committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults involved in my work.

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. I take a proactive, preventative and respectful approach to safeguarding, ensuring that all work is delivered in a way that prioritises safety, dignity and appropriate professional boundaries.

I work within the limits of my role, training and experience, and will signpost to appropriate support where needs fall outside the scope of this work.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to all safeguarding-related matters arising from my work with:

  • children and young people

  • families

  • education staff and leaders

  • adults participating in workshops, programmes or online sessions

It applies across:

  • one-to-one work

  • group settings

  • education environments

  • online delivery

  • in-person work at client's or institutional premises or agreed location

3. My Role & Professional Boundaries

I work as a Transformation Educator, facilitator and advisor.

My work is:

  • educational and preventative

  • non-therapeutic

  • non-clinical

I do not provide counselling, therapy or mental health treatment, and I do not act in a parental, medical or safeguarding lead role within institutions.

Clear professional boundaries are maintained at all times.

4. Safeguarding Responsibilities

I take responsibility for:

  • creating safe, respectful and appropriate learning environments

  • maintaining professional boundaries

  • responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns

  • following agreed safeguarding procedures

In educational settings, the institution retains overall responsibility for student and staff safety.

5. Safer Working Practices

To support safeguarding, I commit to:

  • working transparently and professionally

  • maintaining appropriate communication boundaries

  • avoiding one-to-one situations where visibility or oversight is required without agreement

  • ensuring online sessions are delivered in an appropriate and professional manner

  • using developmentally appropriate language and practices

6. Disclosure & Confidentiality

Information shared during my work is treated with care and respect.

Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where:

  • a child or young person may be at risk of harm

  • there is a safeguarding concern

  • disclosure is required by law

This is clearly communicated to participants at the outset of the work.

7. Responding to Safeguarding Concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises, I will:

  1. Listen calmly and without judgement

  2. Avoid making promises of confidentiality

  3. Record concerns accurately and factually

  4. Follow appropriate reporting procedures

In education settings:

  • I will report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with institutional procedures

In private work:

  • I may seek advice from or report concerns to appropriate statutory services where necessary

8. Escalation & External Reporting

Where appropriate, concerns may be escalated to:

  • local safeguarding teams

  • social services

  • emergency services

Safeguarding takes priority over confidentiality where risk is present.

9. Working with Parents, Guardians & Institutions

Where appropriate:

  • parents, guardians or institutions will be informed of safeguarding concerns

  • communication will be handled sensitively and professionally

  • information shared will be proportionate and necessary

10. DBS & Suitability

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate appropriate to my work with children and young people.

DBS checks are maintained in line with best practice.

11. Online Delivery Safeguarding

When delivering work online:

  • sessions are conducted professionally and appropriately

  • safeguarding considerations are communicated in advance

  • boundaries around communication and participation are maintained

12. Allegations & Complaints

Any safeguarding-related complaints or concerns about my conduct should be raised promptly and will be taken seriously.

Concerns may be escalated to appropriate authorities where required.

13. Review of Policy

This Safeguarding Policy is reviewed regularly and updated as required to reflect best practice and legislative guidance.
